Worry, anxiety & stress can be stilled

Whether it’s little gnawing things or big calamitous events that get you all wound up, there is a solution! Jesus told Martha: “thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful”. (Luke 10:41) That one thing was what her sister Mary was doing—sitting and listening to Christ Jesus.

In times of anxiety, Christian Science shows that we can be still and turn to Christ, God’s message, which is always present. This isn’t a matter of willpower, but of giving that up and humbly listening for what the Bible refers to as “the still small voice”. In our Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy writes on page 323:

“The effects of Christian Science are not so much seen as felt. It is the ‘still, small voice’ of Truth uttering itself. We are either turning away from this utterance, or we are listening to it and going up higher. Willingness to become as a little child and to leave the old for the new, renders thought receptive of the advanced idea.”

You are invited to hear more healing ideas on this subject this Wednesday, March 20. Our meeting is in person at Brookdale of Glen Ellyn, located at 60 Nicoll Way, or by Zoom. At Brookdale, just ask the receptionist to direct you to the Roosevelt Room. Come de-stress with us!
