God's Name

A name signifies identity. In many cultures it shows the specific nature of a person or thing. God is named the great I AM, Lord of hosts, Almighty, Father and more.

Our Bible lesson sermon this week, on the subject of God, reveals His nature becoming clearer and clearer to human understanding through Bible narratives of the Patriarchs, the Israelites, Kings, prophets, followers of Jesus, inspired writers and visionaries.

Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer of Christian Science, enriches our understanding of God with the names Father-Mother, infinite Mind and divine Love. She brings out the following seven Bible-based synonyms for God, to help us understand His nature better: Principle, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Life, Truth and Love.

At our church service this Sunday, January 5, learn more about God through your spiritual sense, described this way by Mary Baker Eddy, on page 209 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: "Spiritual sense is a conscious, constant capacity to understand God."
