Our work

As we go about our daily occupations, we each have spiritual work to do. It’s to reflect the divine goodness, that God is eternally doing, in uniquely beautiful ways. This labor feeds and sustains us. The Bible says:

“My beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (I Cor 15:58)

When Jesus fed the 5,000, with just a few loaves and fishes, he referred to the sustaining food this way:

“I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”

This “bread of heaven” could be thought of as the Christ consciousness which feeds and sustains us daily. It’s never lacking what we need and mutually blesses all. When this work, this holy purpose, occupies our thoughts it provides all we need—our daily bread— and helps others too.

When we listen for God’s voice, he directs us to satisfying work which sustains and blesses everyone. This topic will be explored on Wednesday, March 27, at our weekly Testimony Meeting. The information you need to join us, in person or by Zoom, can be found at this link.
