From clamor to calm

How can we help maintain a peaceful atmosphere amid reports of anger and agitation in Los Angeles and other U.S. cities? We can know that the Holy Spirit conveys peace and then listen for God’s word. We can actively refrain from the urge to let our thoughts be carried away with division, fear, brutality or hatred.

Whatever is false or sinful can never enter the atmosphere of Spirit. There is but one Spirit. ... Evil has no reality. It is neither person, place, nor thing, but is simply a belief, an illusion of material sense. (SH pg. 70:5–7; pg. 71:2)

Tonight, at our Testimony Meeting, we will hear from our Pastor on this subject. The Christian Science “Pastor” is the two books we read from on Sundays and Wednesdays—the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, quoted above. We meet at Brookdale in Glen Ellyn at 7:30 pm every Wednesday. We hope you can join us in person or by Zoom.

The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. (Psalms 145:8, 9)
