Patient waiting

Little children learn the basics of patience in life. Waiting in line. Taking your turn. Not interrupting until others finish speaking. We may still need to learn grown-up patience as an ongoing discipline, too.

Rest assured, we can learn to listen and wait for God’s messages. The Bible has so many examples of this. Of course, a great practitioner of patience was Jesus. This shines out in the Easter message. The words of this song from our hymnal in these verses say it well:

O, who like thee so calm, so bright,
So pure, so made to live in light?
O, who like thee did ever go
So patient through a world of woe?

O, who like thee so humbly bore
Scorn and the scoffs of men, before?
So meek, forgiving, Godlike, high,
So glorious in humility.

O, in thy light be mine to go,
Let it illume my way of woe
And give me ever on the road
To trace thy footsteps, Son of God.

(Christian Science Hymnal, No. 352, verses 2-4)

We invite you to meet with us this Wednesday, April 16, to explore patience, perhaps in a new way. Readings will be shared and then testimonies of healing. Our weekly Testimony Meeting begins at 7:30 pm, in person at Brookdale of Glen Ellyn, or by Zoom. Come join us!
