Climbing higher in thought

The Bible reveals that God’s thoughts and ways are higher than earthly, material thinking and its sometimes poor results. As we leave the mortal thoughts and ways behind and climb higher to what God, Spirit, is telling us, we can expect beautiful things to happen!

Advancing spiritual steps in the teeming universe of Mind lead on to spiritual spheres and exalted beings.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 513)

Climbing a mountain is a good analogy for the perseverance needed to surmount life’s challenges. As the climb becomes more difficult toward the summit, dominion of thought is increasingly needed. To rise higher and higher we may need to strive more consistently to spiritualize our thinking; to focus on God and things of the Spirit, more than on self and materiality.

Advancing to a higher plane of action, thought rises from the material sense to the spiritual, from the scholastic to the inspirational, and from the mortal to the immortal…
These clearer, higher views inspire the Godlike man to reach the absolute centre and circumference of his being.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 256 and 258)
