Light of Day

Every day we open our eyes and see the light. The idiom to “see the light of day” means that something becomes visible or known that was hidden in the dark. The phrase could also mean gaining a deeper understanding or having something revealed mentally.

The light of God reveals Truth. In her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, included a glossary which gives the spiritual meaning of some well-known Bible words, like this one:

DAY. The irradiance of Life; light, the spiritual idea of Truth and Love.
“And the evening and the morning were the first day.” (Genesis i. 5.) The objects of time and sense disappear in the illumination of spiritual understanding, and Mind measures time according to the good that is unfolded. This unfolding is God’s day, and “there shall be no night there.”
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 584)

We can all be led by this light throughout our day—unfolding good and overcoming problems of every kind. Find out more at our Testimony Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Glen Ellyn. Join us in person at Brookdale or by Zoom. The meeting begins at 7:30 pm (Central) in the Roosevelt Room. The public is always welcome.
